This learning program helps prospective foster and adoptive parents make informed, mutual decisions with ACS about whether foster parenting or adopting is right for their family. Satisfactory completion of this train-the-trainer workshop certifies learners to conduct the 30-hour GPSII/MAPP curriculum on a virtual platform. Before attending this virtual, instructor-led training, learners must complete an online pre-test.
Who Should Attend?
Foster care and adoptive caseworkers, supervisors, homefinders, directors of social services, and agency administrators working in ACS provider agencies.
Course Benefits
Learners will:
- Acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to use the tools in the GPSII/MAPP programs to assess and prepare prospective foster and adoptive families.
- Observe and practice effective facilitation skills for adult learning.
- Access the curriculum, PowerPoint and videos to conduct the GPSII/MAPP program.
Course Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Course Components
Once enrolled in the course, learners will complete:
- An online pre-test.
- An eight-day, virtual, instructor-led online workshop.
- An online post-test.
Completion of all components is necessary to receive a Certificate of Completion.
