This learning program equips staff with the knowledge, skills and best practices needed to succeed in their role, while outlining role-specific expectations and responsibilities. Through interactive practice and case-based scenarios, participants explore their role within the case planning team and practice applying strategies that advance shared service plan goals. Emphasis is placed on promoting safety, achieving timely permanency and supporting the well-being of children, youth and families. In addition, learners develop the skills to conduct accurate assessments and complete required documentation that moves cases forward effectively.

Foster care case planners, supervisors, parent advocates and sociotherapists working in Foster Care services.

- Understand key policies and procedures while building confidence in navigating real world foster care case scenarios through interactive practice.
- Examine the case planner’s role and responsibilities during engagement with families, including required actions and assessment protocols.
- Gain insight into the case planner’s role as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team and recognize how to contribute to shared service plan goals.
- Develop knowledge and hands-on practice in documenting foster care progress notes accurately using Connections and Safe Measures.

Course Components
Once enrolled in the course, learners will complete an online pre-test, a one-day, instructor-led workshop and an online post-test. Completion of all components is necessary to receive a Certificate of Completion.
