This learning program informs learners about changes in the Initial Child Safety Conference (ICSC). The enhanced ICSC model introduces caucusing/private family time, an extended contact time where families can meet with a Parent Advocate and receive support without ACS representatives present. The training also helps learners recognize the disproportionality in child welfare and how parents’ voices in the ICSC can reduce bias and increase cultural responsiveness in family-oriented decision-making.
Who Should Attend?
A learning program for Parent Advocates, Child Protective Specialists, Child Family Specialists (conference facilitators), and supervisors and managers working in the Division of Child Protection (DCP).

- Learn about the additions to the ICSC that expand the Parent Advocate role in family conferences and identify their potential positive impact on family outcomes related to family separation.
- Discover collaborative partnership methods (Parent Advocates and DCP) to engage families in designing effective safety intervention plans.

Course Components
