This eLearning program provides Child Welfare professionals the knowledge and practical applications to help families better control asthma. This eLearning program provides suggestions on how learners can discuss and support medication adherence and asthma trigger management in a strengths-based manner. Before attending this eLearning training, learners must complete an online pre-test.

Course Benefits
Learners will:
- Be able to define asthma and its symptoms, including how asthma affects the airways and what to do in emergency situations.
- Be trained how to engage families around asthma, including self-monitoring, control and medication adherence.
- Be able to identify asthma triggers in the home setting and support families in trigger management.

There are no prerequisites for this course.
Course Components
Once enrolled in the course, learners will complete:
- An online pre-test.
- A one-hour eLearning course.
- An online post-test.
Completion of all components is necessary to receive a Certificate of Completion.
Continuing Education Units
The New York City Administration for Children’s Services is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0402. This course is 1 contact hour/0.1 CEUs. CEU credit is contingent upon completion of all course components.
