This learning program strengthens targeted Motivational Interviewing (MI) skills that direct service staff use when working with children, youth and families. Building on the foundational MI courses, this course reinforces MI-consistent practices and helps staff practice using reflections to engage, partner and move toward change in their day-to-day work. Participants learn to guide conversations, build rapport, elicit motivations and support planning, while practicing reflections, affirmations and summaries to foster understanding and support change. Through interactive exercises, learners strengthen their ability to use MI to engage and empower families.
