About the CPS Practice Core Training

The purpose of the program is to orient new Child Protective Specialists to their roles and responsibilities, and to provide core skill building to be successful in their new role. At the completion of the program, staff will be able to: apply cross-cutting themes when working with families to promote child safety; assess for safety and risk by gather all relevant information; engage with families respectfully to develop a partnership in such a way that they are active participants in their plan; develop safety and service plans that work for the families; complete required documentation and meet documentation expectations; and demonstrate best practice in the transfer process and close of case.

 

Who Should Attend?

Those seeking to become Child Protective Specialists will be assigned to this onboarding course upon hire or transfer.

 

Important Information

  • Learners must be able to satisfactorily complete this foundational training course in order to become Child Protective Specialists.
  • Learners will receive a Certificate of Completion after completion of the program.
