DYFJ Contraband eLearning

This eLearning program assists learners in recognizing what is necessary for identifying, preventing and disposing of traditional and non-traditional forms of contraband. Learners explore how the presence and distribution of contraband compromises their authority, peer relationships, and the safety of youths.

All staff working in Juvenile Justice.


Course Benefits

Learners will:

  •  Identify traditional and non-traditional items considered to be contraband in a secure detention facility.
  • Recognize how managing the presence and distribution of contraband can increase facility safety and minimize incidents of their authority being compromised.
  • Improve facility safety by accurately reporting, documenting, securing and disposing
    of contraband.

There are no prerequisites for this course.


Course Components

Once enrolled in the course, learners will complete:

  • A 30-minute eLearning course.

Completion of all components is necessary to receive a Certificate of Completion.
